The event aims to promote the Hungarian culture, as an integrant part of the cultural diversity in Romania. The “Contemporary Arts” program is going to be one of the festival`s components – it is a space where the audience can enjoy artistic productions linked with Mureş County through their authors or through the proposed theme.
AL DI MEOLA, IN THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL HARMONIA CORDIS
The festival is the most important event of classical guitar in the Eastern Europe, being organized in Tîrgu Mureş and celebrating in 2015 its X-th edition. The potential audience from Mureş County and from all regions of the country is invited to enjoy the performances of the high caliber guests of the national and international classical music. The impact of the event will be supported by the live broadcast of the concerts on the association’s website: www.harmoniacordis.org – the NGO that founded the first classical guitar online radio in Eastern Europe, popularizing in this way, this kind of music, through the recordings done during the previous editions of the festival. On August 15th, in the Square of the Theatre, the audience will have the opportunity to attend the concert of Al Di Meola, who will perform within the festival.
THE ROMAN FESTIVAL OF CALUGARENI
On 8 August 2015, Mureş County Museum and the Association “Teatrul Şură” organize the third edition of the ROMAN FESTIVAL 3R in the village of Călugăreni, commune of Eremitu. It is an invitation to travel in the past, in the Roman Era and life of the monks of those times, marked in the local landscape through heritage values of regional and national importance. In addition to the exhibitions, military demonstrations or fights between gladiators, visitors have the possibility to attend a workshop of dances from the Renaissance, workshops inspired by the daily life in the Roman Age and by the monastic life, as well as to be guided in the field of the archaeological excavation.
SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT
The event, which has taken place in Tîrgu Mureş since 2009, attracts almost 10000 spectators at each edition. In 2015, the Romanian Air Club was part of the event, with five high acrobatic aircrafts, model Extra 300L – which belongs to “Hawks team of Romania”, along with Zlin 142 aircrafts, Ikarus light aircrafts, acrobatics and school gliders, paratroopers crew and a hot air balloon.
TIRGU MURES PHILARMONIC – 65 YEARS OF TUNES
In 2015 took place the 45-th edition of the event Tîrgu Mureş Musical Days”. On this occasion, was celebrated the 65th anniversary of Tîrgu Mureş State Philarmonic, through a special concert of opera “Madame Butterfly”, performed by the orchestra directed by Shinya Ozaki, by vocal soloists and by the joint choir of the Philarmonic.
THE NIGHT OF MUSEUMS
The Night of Museums in Tîrgu Mures is no longer just a celebration of the museums, but of the partners, too, who join this animating event of the city – institutions and cultural organizations, art galleries, studios of creation, NGOs, alternative spaces. During this event is organized a fair of crafts, activities for children, outdoor concerts, cafes. The event is attended by 15.000 – 20.000 inhabitants of Mureş County.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS ROMANIA
Special Olympics Romania National Games is the greatest sport event of 2015, dedicated to people with intellectual disabilities. The event which took place on the sport facility of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, was attended by approximately 450 sportsmen accompanied by their attendants, who competed in various sports competitions.
The first edition of the Book Fair, entitled Bookfest Tîrgu Mureş has taken place in 2014, with the aim of providing the general public in Mureş County a platform for meeting with the most important publishing houses in the country as well as with the people of culture invited as speakers. With an average of 20.000 visitors/edition, Bookfest takes place in two landmark locations of the county’s cultural life: the Palace of Culture and Tîrgu Mureş National Theatre.
MURES CLASSIC DAYS
Mureș Classic Days 2015 is an international event organized by Mureş Classic Car Club in order to promote Mureş County, including through a journey carried out with more than 50 vintage cars, on a distance of approximately 200 kilometers, including castles and fortresses located in the county. The event also comprises regularity rally for vintage cars, antique car shows, workshops supported by restaurateurs and sportsmen, as well as a thematic exhibition.
RAMONA FABIAN MEMORIAL – FOLKLORE MUSIC FESTIVAL
The event, at its second edition, brought in the public space young popular music singers, in the framework of a contest which was filled with the performances of some well known artists in this field. The festival offers to the young popular music singers, the chance to an artistic expression within a unique event organized in this part of the country.
TOURIST IN MURES
The Festival of Mureş Valley has taken place in Mureş County for 11 the lastyears. Only one year after the onset of the festival, a similar event dedicated to Gurghiu Valley debuted with its first edition. In 2014 took place the first edition of the Festival of Niraj Valley’s– a fair of handicraft products and in 2015 a series of events meant to promote the county’s traditions are going to be held in Gorneşti, Târnăveni and Bezid. The main goals of the organizers are: the preservation of the immaterial and material cultural heritage, as a mean of strengthening links with the rural world, of diversification of the tourism offers concerning these areas and of increasing the attractiveness of these geographical areas. The events are standards of preserving the Romanian, Hungarian and Saxon heritage in almost all the areas of the county.
THE INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL - ALTERNATIVE
The Festival is the country’s oldest and largest event of this type. Directors from Romania and from more than 60 participating countries are measuring their talent in an international competition, comprising movies projections and adjacent events: concerts, recitals, plastic art exhibitions and multimedia performances.
THE INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR
Each year, from 1995 onwards, the Association of the Hungarian Book Guild in Romania organizes the International Book Fair. At its twenty-first edition, in 2015, the event enjoys the participation of 40 publishing houses from Romania and Hungary. The organizers estimate an average of 8000 visitors and about 10000 exhibited titles.
The participants gather in Victoria Square and proceed through the city by bike. After they toured the city, the organizers invites the cyclists in an area situated on the banks of Mureş river, where they are rewarded with a rustic snack and water. “Critical Mass” is a project that wants to point out that cycling is the cheapest, healthiest, fastest and most environmentally friendly way to travel and aims to solve the parking problem for the cyclists in Mureş.
HUNGARIAN STUDENTS DAYS
The festival lasts five days and during this period the participants are taking part into a competition between teams. Every year, there are 40 participating teams, each with a minimum of 30 people, who must show a range of skills and knowledge. The event begins with an evening of guitar, followed by the parade on the streets of the city. Concerts and parties are organized every evening. The artists who performed in the previous edition were: Irie Maffia, Bagossy Brothers Company, Vizi Imre & Band, Koszika & The HotShots and De la Funk band.
The National Student Festival “MediFun” reached its XV-th edition. The participants are organized into teams of 50 young people, each teams being represented by a name, a flag, distinguishing marks, an anthem and a sketch of presentation, according with the instructions given by the organizers. The participants are students from all university centers in the country and any young people between the ages 18 and 35 years old. The teams are engaging themselves in a competition, unique in Romania, which includes various tests in the fields of sports, culture, social and as well as “surprise tests”. In 2015, the participants enjoyed the concerts of Viţa de Vie and ROA.
TIRGU MURES DAYS
The festival reached its nineteenth edition. The program of the event includes film screenings, performances, art exhibitions, fairs, fireworks and concerts – taking place in several locations from the city. At the concerts held in 2015 in the Municipal Park, the following artists and bands went on stage: Holograf, Tankcsapda, Toto Cutugno, Alex Velea, Andrea Banica, Smiley, Zdob si Zdub, Omega etc
THE WINE AND HANDICRAFTS CELEBRATION
Tirgu Mures City Hall organizes the Wine and Handicrafts Celebration, a representative event, which is now a part of our city’s tradition, along with Tîrgu Mureş Days. The event is taking place in the city center, at the National Theatre, in the Municipal Park, at “Mihai Eminescu” Cultural Center and “Arta” Cinema. Among the programs of the event, participants can enjoy the exhibitions with wine tasting, exhibitions of traditional products, of fruits and natural juices, as well as conferences, shows and concerts. Each year, the event is attended by approximately 60000 residents of the city.
